Caffeine

28 BLACK contains 32 mg caffeine per 100 ml. 28 BLACK should be consumed in moderation and is not recommended for children or pregnant women. Consumption associated with extreme physical activity or with existing health conditions, specifically heart and blood pressure abnormalities, is not advised.

Sugar

28 BLACK contains 10 g to 14 g per 100 ml of sugar, depending on the variety. 28 BLACK Açaí Zero, 28 BLACK Classic Zero and 28 BLACK Absolute Zero Guava-Passion Fruit contain 0 g of sugar.

Sweeteners

28 BLACK Açaí Zero is not sweetened with sugar, but instead is sweetened with acesulfame-K, stevia extract (steviol glycoside) and sucralose.

Acidifier

Adding this helps round off the taste and stabilises 28 BLACK microbiologically. Addition is indicated on the label.

Antioxidants ascorbic acid

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) binds oxygen and stabilises flavours. This is how 28 BLACK maintains its taste and colour until the best-before date has passed. Addition of ascorbic acid is noted on the label.

Flavouring

Added flavours permit optimised flavour profiles in line with consumers' wishes.

What is Açaí?

The açaí berry (pronounced ah-sah-ee) is small, round and dark purple. This berry, the fruit of the açaí palm (Euterpe Oleracea) which grows in the Amazon rainforest, is also referred to as a “super fruit” and “nature's perfect food” on account of its high percentage of antioxidants, nutrients, minerals and essential fatty acids.

How high is the caffeine level in 28 BLACK?

28 BLACK contains 32 mg caffeine per 100 ml. This is roughly equivalent to two cups of espresso. 28 BLACK should be consumed in moderation and is not recommended for children or pregnant women.  Consumption associated with extreme physical activity or with existing health conditions, specifically heart and blood pressure abnormalities, is not advised. Caffeine levels can vary in certain countries.

Why doesn't 28 BLACK contain any taurine?

28 BLACK intentionally does not include taurine, as the combination of taurine with caffeine can have detrimental effects, and increased consumption of products containing taurine can increase the risk of symptoms such as nervousness, restlessness, nausea and rapid heartbeat. In some cases, intensive use can result in cardiac arrhythmia and cramps. It should also be noted that it has not been proven that taurine improves performance.
